A 76-year-old Canadian model and actress, Dayle Haddon, has died after a suspected carbon monoxide leak at her home in Solebury Township, Bucks County. The victim was found unconscious in a second-floor bedroom.
According to authorities, firefighters detected high levels of carbon monoxide, which is odorless, colorless, and tasteless. Two medics were taken to Doylestown Hospital for carbon monoxide exposure.
Haddon gained international fame in the 1970s, gracing the covers of fashion magazines, including Vogue. She also starred in movies and became an activist for various causes.
The incident remains under investigation, but police suspect a heating unit or boiler may be the source of the fumes. The home belongs to actor Marc Blucas and his wife, journalist Ryan Haddon Blucas, who purchased it for $1 million in 2012.
A tribute was posted on Instagram by Haddon’s daughter, Ryan, saying her mother “held so many up” and was an inspiration to many. Firefighters urge the public to prioritize prevention and detection of carbon monoxide poisoning, emphasizing the importance of maintaining working appliances and having a functioning carbon monoxide detector in homes.
