Modi Co-Chairs AI Summit with Macron in Paris

India Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi co-chaired the AI Action Summit in Paris alongside French President H.E. Mr. Emmanuel Macron. The summit, which began on February 6, focused on collective global efforts to establish governance and standards for AI that uphold shared values and address risks.

President Macron invited PM Modi to deliver the opening address as the summit’s co-chair, highlighting the need for a people-centric approach to AI development. In his speech, PM Modi emphasized the importance of democratizing technology and its applications, ensuring access to AI for all, especially in the Global South.

India showcased its success in building a Digital Public Infrastructure for 1.4 billion citizens using open and accessible technology. The country is also developing its own Large Language Model for AI. Prime Minister announced that India will host the next AI Summit, further solidifying its commitment to AI development.

The summit featured discussions on key themes, including responsible AI use, inclusive access to infrastructure, and sustainable governance. Indian PM Modi’s participation in the event marked a significant step towards promoting global cooperation and innovation in AI development.
