Narendra Modi’s visit to the US has taken a significant turn as he met with Donald Trump, marking their first bilateral talks since Trump assumed the presidency last month. The two leaders discussed strengthening strategic ties in key areas such as defense, energy, and critical technology.
Their meeting was seen as a major development in India-US relations, with both sides committing to deepen engagement in the Indo-Pacific region and global forums. Modi also emphasized his country’s focus on a “Vikit Bharat” or Developed India, which he believes is in line with Trump’s “MAGA” agenda.
Trump made several announcements during their meeting, including plans to provide India with F-35 fighter jets as part of increasing military supplies worth billions of dollars. The US also expressed its commitment to supporting India’s growing economy and promoting bilateral trade.
During Modi’s two-day visit to France before heading to the US, he met with French President Emmanuel Macron and co-chaired an Artificial Intelligence Action Summit. He also addressed the 14th India-France CEOs Forum and met with prominent business leaders such as Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy.
