Monster Hunter Wilds PC Performance Issues Get Fix, But Is It Really Working?

Monster Hunter Wilds continued its massive launch into the weekend with 2 million players on Steam, helping propel Valve-owned storefront to a record-breaking 40 million concurrent users. However, the game’s performance on PC has been a different story.

Capcom recently confirmed it’s working to fix a game-breaking bug that can prevent players from beating the game. The bug occurs after completing the “main” campaign and before all story quests have been finished in Chapter 5-2 A World Turned Upside Down. Capcom plans to release a patch on March 4, which will also address issues with player progression, the “Ingredient Center,” and “Grill a Meal” features.

Despite this fix, PC players are still experiencing problems such as framerate stuttering and frequent crashes. Fans have been searching for workarounds, mods, or tips to improve performance, even going so far as to edit game files. A Steam user discovered a typo in the Monster Hunter Wilds config file – “Resolution” was misspelled as “Resoltuion.” After correcting the errors, some players reported improved framerate and reduced temperatures.

However, these findings are not conclusive, and Capcom has yet to provide a timeline for a bigger update to optimize the game’s performance on PC. The company has provided a list of known issues and troubleshooting advice but seems reluctant to acknowledge the severity of the problem.
