Montreal Fans Flock to Crescent Street for Grand Prix Festival

Montreal’s Crescent Street came alive with fans of Formula One and the city, as the Grand Prix Festival kicked off on Friday. Rob Jenkinson, a Buffalo native visiting his third time in five years, said he loves the international vibe Montreal offers. “It’s so different from my hometown,” he noted.

By noon, the street was bustling with energy drinks, free ice cream, and live music. Locals like Shaun Hughson, who lives on the south shore, took advantage of the free treats while tourists enjoyed the F1 cars on display. When asked about his presence, Hughson quipped, “I came today because the métro is open.”

The Grand Prix Festival brings in an estimated $100 million for businesses and boosts Montreal’s economy. Ziggy Eichenbaum, owner of Ziggy’s Pub, said it generates a month’s worth of business during the event.

Security measures are also in place, with police and security guards on hand to ensure public safety. A police statement assured that officers will be present at the festival “to ensure everyone’s safety.”

As the three-day festival continues, Montrealers can look forward to a fun-filled weekend with activities, live music, and shopping opportunities.
