MLB star Mookie Betts is still uncertain about his status for the Los Angeles Dodgers’ upcoming games due to a lingering stomach bug. Betts missed the team’s first two games in Tokyo and may also sit out this week.
The eight-time All-Star was diagnosed with a stomach issue that made it difficult for him to keep solid food down, resulting in a 25-pound weight loss. Despite undergoing testing in Los Angeles, Betts’ symptoms persisted, forcing him to lose weight.
“I’m scared to eat,” Betts said. “I don’t really know what to do.” However, his blood tests have come back clean, and he’s been able to work out. Betts is now taking new medicine to calm his stomach and hopes to return to the field soon.
The Dodgers’ next game is against the Detroit Tigers on Thursday. If Betts can manage his symptoms, he’ll likely slide into the top of the order alongside Freddie Freeman, Shohei Ohtani, Will Smith, Max Muncy, and Teoscar Hernandez.
