Country singer Morgan Wallen returned to late-night sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live (SNL) after a five-year absence to promote his upcoming album, “I’m the Problem”. Wallen, who left the show in 2018 due to controversy surrounding his COVID-19 protocol and personal antics, made his first appearance as the musical act on SNL since then.
During his return, Wallen performed two songs from his new album, including “Just in Case” and “I’m the Problem”. The performance was well-received by the cast and crew, with cameras panning out to show the cast congratulating each other after completing another episode.
Wallen’s walk-off stage, where he exited without a goodbye or acknowledgement of the audience, has sparked speculation about its cause. However, sources close to the show claim that it was simply an “oops” moment, with Wallen walking off the stage in the same way he had during rehearsals and camera blocking throughout the week.
Wallen’s return to SNL marks his first time as a musical act on the show since 2018, when he faced backlash for not wearing a mask at an Alabama football game and celebrating without social distancing. He apologized for his actions and has since made a conscious effort to work on himself and address past mistakes.
In related news, Wallen was recently nominated for multiple awards at the 2025 ACM Awards, including entertainer of the year and single of the year with Post Malone for their hit song “I Had Some Help”.
