A brutal street fight erupted on AEW Dynamite as Jon Moxley defended his championship against Adam Copeland, with the Rated R Superstar emerging victorious. The match began halfway through the show, with Cope jumping on Mox before he could even enter the arena.
Mox took charge after a Paradigm Shift on the announce desk and tried to injure Cope’s surgically repaired neck, but the veteran eventually turned the tide with the help of Spike, his nail-studded board. In one of the most gruesome moments of the match, Spike was embedded in Moxley’s back.
Wheeler Yuta emerged to aid Mox, and after cameras had to cut away due to the brutality of the spot, Cope put Yuta through a table on the floor. Claudio Castagnoli and PAC soon followed, looking to help Mox and exact revenge on Copeland for their losses at Revolution.
The Death Riders were fueled by the chaos, with Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler teaming up to even the odds against Mox’s group. However, it was ultimately Cope who benefited from the chaos, using a bulldog choke to retain his title.
In a surprising twist, Copeland may be exiting the World title scene, as he was refused help by Harwood, leading to a confrontation between the two men. The victory marked Moxley’s second win over Cope in their ongoing feud, and he will now face Swerve Strickland at the upcoming Dynasty PPV.
