Muhammad Ali’s Brother Rahaman Dies at 82

Muhammad Ali’s younger brother, Rahaman Ali, has passed away at the age of 82. Born as Rudolph Arnett Clay, Rahaman followed his older brother into the boxing profession and fought professionally from 1964 to 1972. He was a passionate supporter of Muhammad Ali’s career.

Rahaman penned two books, “That’s Muhammad Ali’s Brother! My Life on the Undercard” and “My Brother, Muhammad Ali—The Definitive Biography,” in which he shared his experiences with his famous sibling. DeVone Holt, president and CEO of the Muhammad Ali Center, described Rahaman as one of the most constant sources of support for Muhammad during his career.

Rahaman’s relationship with Muhammad was built on a foundation of brotherly love, with DeVone Holt noting that their bond was a true example of what it means to be “my brother’s keeper.” Muhammad Ali’s daughter, retired boxer Laila Ali, paid tribute to her uncle on Instagram, writing that he was loved deeply by her father and is now reunited with their parents in eternal peace.

Rahaman’s passing marks the end of an era for those who knew him as a constant presence in Muhammad Ali’s life. His legacy will live on through his books and the countless memories shared about their brotherly bond.
