The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued several Class 1 recalls, the highest risk level, for various food products sold across multiple states, including Oregon and Washington. These recalls are primarily due to potential contamination or undeclared allergens.
Braga Fresh, an organic farming company, has recalled specific bags of Marketside Broccoli Florets sold at Walmart locations in 20 states, including Oregon and Washington, due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The affected product has a best-by date of December 10 and can be identified by the UPC code “6 81131 32884 5” and lot code “BFFG327A6”.
Consumers are advised not to consume the product and should discard it immediately. Although some customers may still have the product in their freezers, Braga Fresh emphasized that this recall does not apply to any other Marketside or Braga Fresh produced products.
The FDA has also issued recalls for Frito-Lay’s Lay’s potato chips sold in Oregon and Washington due to possible undeclared milk, following a consumer contact alert. Consumers are instructed to discard the product immediately.
Additionally, the FDA has elevated the recall of certain Cal Yee Farms chocolate products to a Class 1 status due to potential undeclared allergens such as milk, soy, wheat, sesame, FD&C #6, and almonds. The affected products were distributed across nine states, including Oregon, California, and Arizona.
The FDA has also reclassified a recall of Kirkland Signature brand smoked salmon sold at Costco to a Class 1 recall due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Consumers who purchased the product should throw it away or return it to Costco for a refund.
The FDA warned that Listeria can cause “serious and sometimes fatal infections” in young children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems.
