A musician from Pacific Palisades has shared a message of hope after losing his home to the recent Palisades Fire. Chad Comey, who narrowly escaped the blaze with his parents, told ABC News that he’s focused on moving forward and preserving his tight-knit community.
Comey’s parents have disabilities and live off their Social Security income. The family does not have homeowners insurance or wildfire insurance, leaving them vulnerable to financial losses. Despite this, Comey remains optimistic about the future and is already thinking about ways to help rebuild and revitalize his community.
“I’m grateful for the blessings that I have,” Comey said. “I might have lost my residence, but I haven’t lost my resilience. It’s really about the daily victories that we have in progress and mindset.”
Comeby shared an emotional account of how he and his parents narrowly escaped the fire, relying on the help of a neighbor to carry his mom down five flights of stairs into a subterranean garage.
The musician also acknowledged that the loss of his musical equipment was a significant blow, but said that “it’s how we think about these things that gives me hope for tomorrow.”
Comeby emphasized the importance of community resilience and expressed his commitment to working with his neighbors and local authorities to rebuild and revitalize their community.
