Elon Musk defended the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) against mounting criticism, saying it’s a “revolution” that might be the biggest since the original revolution. DOGE has disrupted federal agencies, generating concerns from Democrats and unions about turmoil and harming important government functions.
Musk claimed that fewer people than expected have been fired by DOGE amid federal layoffs, with less than 0.15% of the workforce receiving a reduction-in-force (RIF) notice. He also dismissed allegations of vandalism at Tesla locations, blaming “far left” propaganda for spreading lies and violence.
However, concerns remain about the impact on Social Security programs, which have been criticized by Democrats for being engulfed in crisis. The DOGE team acknowledged problems with record-keeping and technology but vowed to improve the experience, aiming for an “Apple Store-like” system.
Musk’s defense of DOGE comes as the initiative faces opposition from various groups. Despite this, he remains confident, saying that those who complain “the loudest and with the most amount of fake righteous indignation” are often “fraudsters.”
