Musk Mocks Altman’s Trump Endorsement in X Post

Elon Musk and Sam Altman, co-founders of OpenAI, have a history of being former allies in the AI tech space. However, their relationship has turned sour after Musk left the company in 2018.

Recently, Altman congratulated David Sacks on his nomination as the “White House AI and Crypto Czar” by President-elect Donald Trump. In response, Musk sent a laughing emoji to Altman’s X post, sparking concerns that the rift between the two tech giants has deepened.

Altman had expressed confidence in Musk’s behavior, stating that he believed the SpaceX CEO would do the right thing despite his political influence. However, after Sacks’ appointment, it appears that Musk is using his power to advance his own business interests.

Sacks’ role as crypto czar highlights Musk’s significant influence on the incoming administration. Musk will be leading the US Department of Government Efficiency (D.O.G.E.), which aims to cut federal spending by $2 trillion. The former partners’ relationship has become increasingly tense, with Musk portraying OpenAI as a for-profit firm that reneged on its founding principles.

Musk filed a lawsuit against OpenAI, accusing them of colluding with Microsoft to hinder xAI’s progress in the field. Altman denied these allegations, stating that he perceives xAI as a “serious competitor.” The exchange highlights the tension between Musk and Altman, who were once allies in AI development.
