Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, and podcaster Joe Rogan have expressed concern over the United States’ spending habits. In a recent podcast interview, they agreed that the country needs to stop wasting money it doesn’t have.
Musk stated that he would not spend money unless he is sure it’s good value. Rogan compared this to a poorly managed business with an unlimited credit line. Musk acknowledged his point and added that if someone were to take over such a business, they would likely make changes to improve its performance.
The conversation highlighted parallels between Musk’s actions at DOGE and his handling of X (formerly Twitter). In both cases, he implemented measures to correct perceived issues. Rogan praised Musk for his ability to create businesses from scratch, including Tesla, which was nearly non-existent when Musk acquired it.
However, the real challenge lies in tackling the federal government’s budget. Musk stated that compared to Twitter, the government is “much worse.” He noted that it loses $2 trillion a year and fails audits, making its financial situation dire. The two agree that it’s time for significant cuts to address these issues.
