OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has dismissed Elon Musk’s unsolicited $97.4 billion bid for the company’s nonprofit, calling it an attempt to slow them down. The billionaire investor had previously made a public offer for OpenAI, but the board may not formally reject the bid immediately.
Altman stated that Musk’s actions are driven by insecurity and a desire to compete with OpenAI technologically. The CEO also questioned Musk’s happiness, suggesting that his life is motivated by a need to prove himself.
Despite Altman’s strong statement, it appears that the OpenAI board may not have received any formal communication about the bid beyond media reports.
