Musk’s Grind Culture Exposed: Can We Get Enough Sleep?

Elon Musk is leading a government takeover with his “hardcore” work ethic, sacrificing sleep for around-the-clock grinding. The DOGE underlings boast about their 120-hour work week, claiming it leaves no time for eight hours of sleep.

However, this mentality values an absolute time commitment above everything else, reminiscent of Silicon Valley’s hustle culture where company founders and minions sleep at their desks to achieve success. Musk himself acknowledged that his old routine gave him “brain pain” and is now trying to get six hours a night.

The DOGE crew’s lack of sleep has led to sloppy operational security, disclosure of classified information, and critical government staff being fired and rehired repeatedly. It’s clear that this culture can’t be hacked around a full night’s sleep.

To achieve eight hours of sleep efficiently, one must acknowledge the challenges it poses in today’s digital age. Light pollution from devices disrupts circadian rhythms, while doomscrolling on these devices before bed is detrimental to sleep quality.

Fortunately, simpler steps can be taken to improve sleep. Developing a set routine, avoiding stimulants before bedtime, and exposing yourself to light in the morning can help. Moreover, being mindful of sleep apnea and checking with your doctor if you have any risk factors are crucial for a restful night’s sleep.

It appears that Elon Musk’s culture is evolving towards trying to achieve eight hours as efficiently as possible, but it remains to be seen whether this approach will yield the desired results. Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, and other tech mogul fans of good sleep advocate for its importance in success.
