Musk’s Struggles: Tesla Protesters Urge Government Overhaul

A group of about 100 protesters gathered in front of a Tesla showroom in Manhattan’s Meatpacking district, voicing their discontent with the company’s owner, Elon Musk. The protesters, including a 91-year-old psychoanalyst and a New Jersey builder, expressed concerns over Musk’s influence on politics and his alleged attempts to “overtake” the government.

The relationship between Musk and Tesla has become increasingly tied to politics since Musk took a prominent role in Donald Trump’s presidential campaign last year. As a result, Tesla’s share price has plummeted from its peak of $488.54 in December, with 85% of Americans believing that Musk’s political statements are having a negative effect on the company.

Analysts argue that Tesla stock has been overvalued due to Musk’s fervent following, and the brand represents a techno-utopian future powered by green energy and innovation. However, this link between Musk and Tesla cuts both ways, with anger towards the businessman growing among both left and right.

A CNN poll found that 53% of Americans have an unfavorable view of Musk, while only 35% viewed him positively. Even Trump’s favorability rating has fallen to 45%. The backlash extends to violent incidents against Tesla showrooms and products, with the White House calling such actions “domestic terrorism.”
