Mobile World Congress 2025 has kicked off in Barcelona, Spain, showcasing a plethora of innovative gadgets, including laptops that charge in the sun, Wi-Fi earbuds, and a handheld gaming console. The event has seen major announcements from top brands like Samsung, Lenovo, Xiaomi, and Nothing.
Samsung’s Display group showcased several concept devices, including an asymmetrical Z Flip-style phone with a hinge allowing it to fold in half, and a larger folding display hidden inside a briefcase. Lenovo’s ThinkBook Flip concept features a flexible OLED screen that can be folded backwards, potentially reducing production costs.
Xiaomi demonstrated its new Buds 5 Pro wireless earbuds featuring Qualcomm’s S7 Pro chip for stable Wi-Fi connectivity over long distances. The HMD Amped Buds also stood out with their charging case, which can both charge and reverse wirelessly charge other devices.
Nothing officially announced its 3A and 3A Pro phones at MWC, featuring Android 15 and Snapdragon 7S Gen 3 chipsets. The phones boast improved mid-range capabilities, including a new AI-powered feature called Essential Space that extracts useful information from screenshots and photos.
Other notable announcements include a concept smartphone with an integrated solar panel, thermochromic pigments in smartphones to indicate temperature changes, and a 3D fad-inspired laptop concept that displays both 2D and 3D content without special glasses.
