My Nintendo Gold Points to End on March 25

Nintendo is discontinuing its My Nintendo loyalty program’s Gold Points on March 25. The move marks the end of an era for the seven-year-old program that rewarded customers with digital eShop purchases and discounts.

Launched in March 2016, My Nintendo introduced Gold Points two years later to encourage Switch game purchases. Eligible products yielded 5% Gold Points, while physical games provided 1%. However, as part of a planned sunset, existing Gold Points will remain usable until March 31, 2026.

On the other hand, Platinum Points, which can be earned through various activities without spending money, will continue to operate. Platinum Points expire six months after being earned and offer exclusive benefits like limited-time merch and digital goodies. The reasons behind My Nintendo’s decision to discontinue Gold Points remain unclear.
