N.J. Devils Acquire Forward Shane LaChance from Edmonton

The New Jersey Devils announced today that they have acquired forward Shane LaChance from Edmonton in exchange for Petr Hauser and retaining 50% of Trent Frederic’s contract obligations for the 2024-25 season.

LaChance, 21, is a second-year player at Boston University in Hockey East. He has recorded 25 points this season, ranking among top five players on his team, and led his team to a conference championship last year with Youngstown in the USHL. LaChance was selected by Edmonton in the sixth round of the 2021 NHL Draft.

The trade also brings in Petr Hauser, who was drafted 141st overall in the 2022 NHL Draft. The Devils’ Head of U.S. Scouting, Scott LaChance’s father, will oversee scouting efforts for the team.
