US lawmakers have released more than 20,000 pages of documents from the estate of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The newly-released documents mention several prominent figures, including Donald Trump, former US President Bill Clinton’s Treasury Secretary Larry Summers, and journalist Michael Wolff.
Michael Wolff, author of Fire and Fury, has a connection to Epstein through emails discussing advice on how to handle questions about Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign.
Larry Summers expressed discomfort over being associated with Trump due to his approach to conflict of interest and proximity to Vladimir Putin. Epstein and Summers also discussed a possible meeting with the president of the United Nations.
Kathryn Ruemmler, White House counsel during Barack Obama’s presidency, exchanged emails with Epstein about hush-money payments made by Trump to adult film star Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election.
The documents also mention billionaire investor Peter Thiel, who was critical of Epstein in a podcast episode. Linguist Noam Chomsky discussed academic topics with Epstein but occasionally mentioned Trump.
Publicist Peggy Siegal helped discredit Virginia Giuffre’s accuser story by contacting Ariana Huffington. However, Huffington denies being contacted.
Epstein consulted several prominent individuals on matters related to his personal and professional life.
