Naomi Girma Credits Chelsea for Smooth Transition and Winning Culture

US defender Naomi Girma hailed winning the FA Cup as “the best thing you can ask for” after Chelsea’s 3-0 defeat of Manchester United. The 24-year-old joined the Blues in January, becoming their first $1 million signing, and has since won the domestic treble in her first season.

Girma praised Chelsea’s winning culture, saying it was an “amazing atmosphere” to play in despite being on the opposite side of the pitch at Wembley. The US player joked that having fans cheering for her added a new level of excitement to the match.

Chelsea completed their treble by defeating Manchester City 2-1 in the League Cup final and winning their sixth consecutive Women’s Super League title with a record points total. Girma reflected on her first six months at the club, praising the team’s hard work and dedication.

“The culture’s really good, really welcoming,” she said. “I think everyone wants to win, everyone wants to play well.” Girma credited the team’s smooth transition and winning culture for her success during her time at Chelsea.
