NASA Adjusts Crew-10 Mission Launch Date for Space Station Rotation

NASA has revised its launch schedule for the upcoming crew rotation mission to and from the International Space Station, now targeting 7:48 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, March 12. The agency is accelerating the target launch and return dates due to a decision by mission management to adjust its original plan.

The Crew-10 mission will now use a previously flown Dragon spacecraft called Endurance, which requires additional processing time. To expedite the mission, joint teams are working to complete assessments of the spacecraft’s previously flown hardware to ensure it meets safety and certification requirements.

This change also allows SpaceX to prepare another spacecraft for launch, enabling the Crew-10 mission to carry out its objectives while launching Crew-9 sooner. The crew rotation mission aims to support the agency’s emerging needs with operational flexibility enabled by the partnership between NASA and SpaceX.

The Crew-10 mission will feature a diverse team of astronauts from NASA, JAXA, and Roscosmos, including Anne McClain, Nichole Ayers, Takuya Onishi, Kirill Peskov, Nick Hague, Suni Williams, Butch Wilmore, Aleksandr Gorbunov. Upon arrival at the space station, Crew-9 will assist in familiarizing the new crew with ongoing science and station maintenance work to ensure a safer transition of operations.

The revised launch date now aligns with the target return time for NASA astronauts on the Crew-9 mission, pending weather conditions at splashdown sites off the coast of Florida.
