NASA Crew Prepares Dragon Spacecraft for Return to Earth

The International Space Station (ISS) crew has been busy packing research samples, station hardware, and electronics in preparation for the return of the Dragon spacecraft on Friday, December 6. The seven-member Expedition 72 team worked on maintaining science equipment and conducting daily tasks such as loading cargo into the spacecraft.

NASA astronauts Suni Williams, Nick Hague, and Butch Wilmore loaded completed science experiments and lab hardware into the Dragon, while NASA Flight Engineer Don Pettit configured a small satellite orbital deployer for release into space. Roscosmos Flight Engineers Aleksandr Gorbunov, Alexey Ovchinin, and Ivan Vagner conducted various maintenance tasks, including inspecting and photographing air conditioning hardware and servicing communications equipment.

Live coverage of the Dragon’s undocking and departure will begin at 10:50 a.m. EST on NASA+, with the spacecraft set to autonomously undock from the Harmony module’s forward port at approximately 11:05 a.m.
