NASA’s Ingenuity helicopter, which achieved a historic powered flight on Mars in 2021, crashed on the planet 11 months ago due to its navigation system becoming confused by a featureless terrain. The crash occurred when the helicopter slammed into the Martian surface at high speed, resulting in the failure of its rotor blades.
