NASA is investing heavily in the Boeing Starliner, with a costly and test-intensive upgrade plan aimed at rivaling SpaceX’s capabilities.
Following the successful return of its astronauts via SpaceX’s Dragon capsule, NASA has set its sights on reviving the troubled Boeing Starliner program.
The spacecraft is undergoing thorough analysis and upgrades, with a planned test campaign for this summer. Additionally, one or more demonstration flights are expected to cost $400 million or more, in an effort to demonstrate its viability as a viable alternative to SpaceX’s Dragon capsule for sending Americans to orbit.
