NASA is hosting a meeting on March 18 to discuss its plans for responding to a recent guidance memo from the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) regarding the implementation of the Rapidly Implemented Furloughs and Early Departures in Exchange (RIF).
As part of this plan, NASA received a one-week reprieve from OPM. The agency had initially planned to submit its Agency RIF and Reorganization Plan (ARRP) by March 13, but was unable to complete the task due to prior commitments.
The meeting will bring together key stakeholders including NASA’s HQ Administrator’s office, Mission Directorate AAs, Center Directors, and representatives from DOGE. The purpose of this discussion is to outline NASA’s strategies for addressing the RIF plans as outlined in the OPM memo.
