NASA’s Curiosity Reveals Ancient Coral-Like Rock on Mars

NASA’s Curiosity Mars rover has imaged a unique rock formation resembling coral on July 24, 2025. The wind-eroded rock features were created by ancient water and billions of years of sandblasting by the Martian wind. Similar formations have been observed in other rocks, indicating that liquid water once existed on Mars. The process involves water carrying dissolved minerals into cracks, which later hardened, while eons of erosion produced distinctive shapes. Curiosity, a NASA rover built by Jet Propulsion Laboratory, has expanded our understanding of Mars’ geological history through its discoveries.
