NASA’s JPL Closed Amid Wildfire Threat in LA

Devastating fires in Los Angeles have forced the closure and evacuation of the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), despite officials confirming that the facility has not yet been damaged by wildfire. Over 150 staff members have lost their homes, while all non-essential employees will work from home until January 17. The fire, which started on January 7, has spread to nearly 10,600 acres and is considered uncontained. JPL, a key center for NASA’s space and Earth science missions, is operating remotely with the backup operations center until further notice.
