NASA has released a breathtaking 417-megapixel panorama of the Andromeda galaxy, located 2.5 million light-years away from Earth. The massive mosaic captures over 200 million stars and is just a fraction of the estimated one trillion stars in the galaxy.
This monumental project took more than a decade to complete, providing valuable insights into the past history of Andromeda through mergers with smaller satellite galaxies. The resulting photomosaic will aid astronomers in piecing together this history.
