Several drivers offered insights into their performances at the NASCAR Cup Series Chicago Street Course on Sunday.
Shane van Gisbergen, the winner of the race, credited his team for its efforts. “I’m just lucky to drive some great cars,” he said. “Our strategy worked out, and we got it right.”
Ty Gibbs finished second, attributing his position to a good call from his team. “My team called a great strategy, and it worked out for us today,” he explained.
Tyler Reddick secured the third spot, citing his team’s tire management as key to their success. “We just had to be aggressive with our tires to catch up with [Shane van Gisbergen],” he said.
Denny Hamlin finished fourth, praising his team’s efforts. “I’ve got to thank the whole Progressive Toyota team for working hard,” he stated. “The car was really good.”
Kyle Busch took fifth, acknowledging a tough start but rebounding late in the race. “We tried to go long on those first tires, and it didn’t work out,” he said.
AJ Allmendinger secured the sixth spot, citing his team’s strategy as key to their performance. “I was just too loose at times,” he admitted. “But we executed well and came away with a solid day.”
Ryan Preece finished seventh, praising his car’s performance. “It was really good, but hard to pass,” he said.
Alex Bowman struggled early but bounced back to finish eighth. “I got into the fence in turns one and two,” he explained. “We just have to move on from it.”
Austin Hill secured the ninth spot, crediting his team for its efforts. “This is a huge day for us,” he stated. “We put our heads together and took some smart risks.”
Ryan Blaney finished twelfth, acknowledging a tricky restart. “We made up ground, but it was tough to get past other cars,” he said.
Zane Smith advanced in the In-Season Challenge despite struggling with his car. “I just kept getting hit and got into chaos,” he explained. “But we got aggressive towards the end and scored some stage points.”
Ty Dillon finished twentieth, citing a tough day but advancing in the challenge. “We survived and advanced!” he exclaimed.
