NASCAR’s premier series makes its only weekend appearance at Richmond Raceway this August, featuring a packed schedule of races in the Cup, Truck, and Modified series.
On Thursday, the Modified Series takes center stage with a 150-lap race, boasting a star-studded field that includes NASCAR Cup veterans Ryan Newman, Ryan Preece, and Corey LaJoie. Justin Bonsignore, last year’s defending champion, will also be competing.
Friday brings practice and qualifying for both the Cup Series and the Craftsman Truck Series. The Truck series’ 250-lap race is set to be its regular-season finale and will determine the 10-driver field for the playoffs. Meanwhile, Austin Dillon, who won the August 2022 Cup Series event at Richmond, will lead a strong field in Saturday’s 400-lap Cup Series race.
This weekend marks the first time in 67 years that Richmond is scheduled to host just one NASCAR Cup Series event. The oval has historically hosted two annual races on the Cup schedule since 1959 but made exceptions in recent years due to the pandemic.
