NASCAR driver Kyle Larson suffered a disappointing day after crashing out of both the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Larson, driving for Hendrick Motorsports, attempted to complete the historic “Double” but fell short due to two separate crashes.
Larson’s Indy 500 crash occurred on Lap 92, when he spun and damaged his car. He was released from the infield care center and scored in 27th place after the wreck. Larson then crashed out of the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Lap 245, resulting in significant damage to his right-rear suspension.
Larson started the Indy 500 from 20th place but struggled throughout the event, eventually spinning and crashing. He had qualified 19th for the race and was considered a contender before his early exit. The crash left Larson with no chance of completing the “Double” and earning the Rookie of the Year title.
Despite the disappointing result, Larson will be evaluated again to ensure he’s healthy enough to return to competition.
