National Restaurant Chain Files for Bankruptcy Protection

Bravo Brio Restaurants, owner of Bravo! Italian Kitchen and Brio Italian Grille, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Monday, citing rising costs, lower demand, and “insurmountable” pressures on the industry as reasons. This move follows several other restaurant chains that have filed for bankruptcy in 2025.

The company has assets between $50 million to $100 million and liabilities of a similar amount, with 200-999 creditors. Bravo Brio aims to use the bankruptcy process to find new investors and strengthen its financial footing.

According to court filings, the bankruptcy process is expected to have minimal disruption to operations for guests, employees, and vendors. The company previously filed for bankruptcy in 2020 but emerged after being acquired by Earl Enterprises.

Other national restaurant chains have also struggled in recent months, with Red Robin planning to close 10-15 locations this year, On the Border closing numerous restaurants as part of its Chapter 11 process, Bar Louis shuttering several locations, and Hooters closing multiple restaurants after entering bankruptcy. Wahlburgers has also closed 79 restaurants in 2025.
