Naughty Dog’s Next Game Will Tackle Faith and Religion

Naughty Dog head Neil Druckmann has shared details about the studio’s upcoming game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. Initially announced last year, the sci-fi title features a bounty hunter named Jordan A Mun, played by Tati Gabrielle. The game takes place 2000 years in an alternate future where a new religion becomes prominent.

According to Druckmann, the game’s narrative explores themes of faith, religion, and isolation. Players will take on the role of a bounty hunter who crash-lands on a planet called Sempiria after all communication stops. With no allies to help them, the player must navigate this unfamiliar world to uncover its history and escape.

Druckmann has been working on Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet for four years, and it is currently in development for the PS5. Unlike The Last of Us Part 2, which received intense controversy upon release, Druckmann hopes that his new game will be met with less backlash due to its seemingly uncontroversial subject matter.

However, Naughty Dog fans should not hold their breath for a sequel to The Last of Us Part 3, as Druckmann has stated that there are no plans for another installment at this time.
