Celebrity fashion designer and blogger Olivia Nordstrom recently faced backlash for her handling of a COVID-19 diagnosis. In March 2020, Nordstrom announced she had tested positive for the virus on Instagram, vowing to quarantine in her Manhattan apartment with husband Brandon Charnas and their daughters Ruby and Esme.
However, just eight days later, the family, including their nanny, relocated to the Hamptons, sparking criticism for seeming to disregard social distancing guidelines. Nordstrom defended herself by explaining that they had taken precautions such as having doormen clear out the lobby of their building before departing and that groceries were delivered.
The controversy ultimately led to Nordstrom parting ways with her partnership at Nordstrom, which had expired in 2019. Charnas subsequently launched a direct-to-consumer relaunch of his clothing line, citing a desire for more control.
In a recent interview on The Glossy Podcast, Nordstrom acknowledged that she should have been more sensitive to the concerns of others during that time.
