Navy Upsets Oklahoma in Armed Forces Bowl with Record Run

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — Blake Horvath set a Navy record with a 95-yard touchdown run as the Midshipmen overcame an early two-touchdown deficit to beat Oklahoma 21-20 in the Armed Forces Bowl on Friday.

Horvath’s record-breaking run tied the game at 14 late in the third quarter, and he then put Navy ahead for the first time with a 6-yard TD run. The win marked Navy’s 10th of the season, their sixth time reaching 10 wins.

The Midshipmen were down 14-0 early, but Horvath’s clutch plays sparked a comeback. He ran 18 times for 155 yards and completed 7 of 12 passes for 92 yards. Alex Tecza also scored an 11-yard TD run for Navy.

Oklahoma was led by Michael Hawkins Jr., who threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Jake Roberts with six seconds left. However, the Sooners were unable to convert a 2-point attempt, and Hawkins was sacked on the play.

Navy’s victory marked their second win over Oklahoma in three seasons, and they improved their all-time record against the Sooners to 2-0. The Midshipmen will return Horvath and all of its offensive skill starters next season.
