NBA: Damian Lillard Cleared for Return After DVT Diagnosis

Milwaukee Bucks guard Damian Lillard has been cleared to resume basketball activities after being diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in his right calf. The team announced that Lillard will not play in Game 1 against the Pacers, but he can gradually increase his on-court activity as he prepares for his return.

Lillard’s health is the top priority, and the medical team at Mayo Clinic has played a crucial role in his recovery. He was taken off blood-thinning medications after the condition resolved, and now he can continue to progress with his basketball activities under strict protocols.

The Bucks have experienced injuries to key players during past playoffs, including Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton. Lillard’s DVT diagnosis is not uncommon in the lower leg, but it’s a setback for the team ahead of their first-round series against Indiana.

Lillard will continue to increase his on-court basketball activity as he ramps up for his return. The Bucks begin their playoff journey on Saturday with a 1 p.m. ET start time on ESPN.
