NBA legends Carmelo Anthony and Dwight Howard will enter the Basketball Hall of Fame later this year, along with WNBA greats Sue Bird, Maya Moore, and Sylvia Fowles. The enshrinement ceremony is scheduled for September 5-6 at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut, and the Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts.
The Class of 2025 also includes Chicago Bulls coach Billy Donovan, Miami Heat managing general partner Micky Arison, and longtime NBA referee Danny Crawford. The Redeem Team, a group of players that captured gold at the Beijing Games in 2008, is also being honored for its historic performance.
“It’s overwhelming with joy, gratitude, all the emotions,” said Howard, who will be inducted along with Anthony and other members of the Redeem Team. “This moment feels just to be up on this stage to represent my family, friends, and everyone who has supported me throughout my journey.”
The Hall of Fame selection is a testament to the accomplishments of these basketball legends, including 11 WNBA or NBA championship teams, 15 Olympic gold medals, and numerous individual accolades. The enshrinement ceremony marks an important milestone in their careers, with many considering it a crowning achievement.
As part of the Class of 2025, James and Paul will also be enshrined as Hall of Famers before their playing careers end, following in the footsteps of Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Jason Kidd, Michael Redd, Carlos Boozer, Deron Williams, and Tayshaun Prince.
