NBA Star Anthony Edwards Fined $50,000 for Obscene Gesture

NBA star Anthony Edwards has been fined $50,000 by the league for making an obscene gesture toward a game official during Saturday’s loss to Memphis. The gesture was made with 1:26 left in the third quarter of the Timberwolves’ 127-125 defeat. Edwards, who scored 41 points in Monday’s win against Washington, acknowledged that his actions were “careless” and expressed regret for the behavior.

This is not the first time Edwards has been penalized by the league this season. He has already been fined a total of $285,000 for five behavioral transgressions, including language issues and obscene gestures on court. The fines come after Edwards received nine technical fouls so far this season, exceeding his previous record of 15.

Edwards apologized for his actions, stating that he won’t repeat the behavior. He has been a two-time All-Star in his fifth season with the Timberwolves and is currently leading the league in technical fouls.
