Nebraska baseball’s single-elimination journey continues after a 7-4 loss to Oklahoma at the Chapel Hill Regional. The Sooners advanced to Saturday’s winners’ bracket game against regional host North Carolina, while the Huskers face an elimination game against Holy Cross.
The Huskers had early chances, but Oklahoma’s pitching stifled them. Gabe Swansen was hit by a pitch and Case Sanderson drew a walk in the opening frame, loading the bases. However, Dylan Carey grounded out to end the threat. Nebraska threatened again in the eighth inning, but the game slipped away with multiple Sooners’ home runs.
Nebraska used six pitchers against Oklahoma, while the Sooners utilized four. Malachi Witherspoon started for the Sooners and struck out nine Huskers over 6 innings. Jason Bodin gave up four runs in just one inning, sealing the win for Oklahoma.
The Huskers will now face Holy Cross in an elimination game on Saturday at 11 a.m. CDT.
