Nebraska Falls Short in Heartbreaker Against Tennessee

The No. 19 Nebraska softball team’s season came to a disappointing end on Saturday as they fell to No. 7 Tennessee 3-2 in the NCAA Super Regionals. With two outs and the tying run at third base, the Huskers were unable to capitalize and allowed Tennessee to secure their win.

Jordyn Bahl took the loss for Nebraska, allowing three runs on four hits while striking out six batters over seven innings. The Big Red had several scoring opportunities, but ultimately came up short.

The Vols struck first with a two-run homer in the top of the first and took a 2-0 lead. Nebraska responded quickly, tying the game at 2-2 with a two-run single from Hannah Camenzind in the bottom of the first.

The Vols regained the lead at 3-2 on a sacrifice fly in the top of the third, but neither team could score again until the final out was recorded. Despite threatening in the bottom of the seventh, Nebraska’s rally came up short.

Tennessee improves to 44-15 and advances to Sunday’s winner-take-all game against Nebraska at 1 p.m. Central.
