Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen has signed the Controllable Electronic Record Fraud Prevention Act into law. The bipartisan legislation aims to combat cryptocurrency fraud and protect users of kiosks and ATMs. Governor Pillen emphasized the importance of safeguarding consumers in the growing industry, saying Nebraska is “building into a cryptocurrency leader” while ensuring guardrails prevent criminals from exploiting citizens.
Nebraska’s Department of Banking Director Kelly Lammers expressed support for businesses operating in the state, urging increased transparency to ensure legitimate businesses thrive. However, the department warned that those targeting Nebraskans will be closely monitored by an enhanced team. The new law is seen as a positive development for consumers and marks a significant step forward in creating a safe and robust cryptocurrency industry in Nebraska.
