Neil Gaiman Sued by Former Nanny Under Human Trafficking Act

Former nanny Scarlett Pavlovich has filed a federal lawsuit against author Neil Gaiman and his estranged wife Amanda Palmer, alleging human trafficking, sexual abuse, assault, rape, and coercion. Pavlovich claims Gaiman subjected her to non-consensual sex while she worked for the couple in New Zealand, where Palmer recruited her with the intention of obtaining unpaid labor.

Pavlovich accuses Palmer of knowing about Gaiman’s alleged behavior but failing to warn her, putting her in a vulnerable position. The lawsuit describes multiple instances of alleged sexual violence and claims that Pavlovich was an “economic hostage” to the couple. Pavlovich seeks damages exceeding $1 million, including emotional distress, physical impairment, economic losses, and punitive damages.

Gaiman has denied all allegations, but the lawsuit adds to a growing list of women who have accused him of sexual misconduct. The action against Palmer will be pursued in her chosen district. Representatives for Gaiman and Palmer have not commented on the allegations.
