Legendary Canadian rocker Neil Young has announced that he will not be performing at the 2025 Glastonbury Festival. In a brief letter shared on his website, Young stated that he was no longer interested in playing the festival due to concerns over corporate control. The BBC, which has been a long-time broadcaster of the event, had reportedly requested certain changes that Young was not willing to make.
Young expressed disappointment at Glastonbury’s shift towards corporate interests, stating that it “is not the way I remember it being.” He will instead focus on his upcoming European tour, which will feature mostly outdoor venues. The Chrome Hearts, Young’s new band featuring Micah Nelson and Spooner Oldham among others, have been touring in support of their debut album.
The 2025 Glastonbury Festival is set to take place from June 27-29 and has already sold out tickets. Several high-profile artists, including Olivia Rodrigo, Sam Fender, and Lady Gaga, are rumored to be performing at the festival, although a final lineup has not been confirmed.
