NetherRealm Studios has released the first gameplay trailer for its upcoming DLC character, the T-1000 from the Terminator franchise. The T-1000’s arrival coincides with that of fan-favorite fighter Madam Bo, who will be added as a Kameo fighter to Mortal Kombat 1.
The T-1000’s gameplay reveals a range of attacks inspired by the iconic sci-fi film series, including its blade and hook arms. The character also features Robert Patrick’s voice and likeness, reprising his role from the 1991 film. A memorable Fatality sequence showcases the T-1000 in pursuit of Johnny Cage, mirroring the film’s chase scene.
In addition to the T-1000, Madam Bo will become available as a DLC fighter on March 18, alongside the T-1000, for Khaos Reigns owners and fans. The characters are part of NetherRealm’s Khaos Reigns expansion, which also includes playable fighters Cyrax, Sektor, Noob Saibot, Ghostface, and Conan the Barbarian.
While Mortal Kombat 1’s commercial success is uncertain, Warner Bros. Discovery remains committed to the franchise. CEO David Zaslav has stated plans to double down on just four titles, including Mortal Kombat, while development chief Ed Boon confirmed that NetherRealm would support the game for a long time.
Fans expect NetherRealm to release a third game in its Injustice series, but neither the studio nor Warner Bros. have yet confirmed this plan. The company’s decision-making process was reportedly influenced by factors such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the switch to Unreal Engine 4. Boon assured that the door remains open for future Injustice titles.
The T-1000 is set to be released on March 18, with Madam Bo following shortly after.
