Brooklyn Nets general manager Sean Marks addressed the team’s trade of guard Dennis Schroder to the Golden State Warriors. Marks acknowledged that Schroder will be missed on and off the court, citing his leadership and “Brooklyn grit.” However, he emphasized that the decision was made with long-term success in mind.
The Nets traded Schroder along with a 2025 second-round pick to the Warriors, receiving guard De’Anthony Melton, Two-Way guard Reece Beekman, and three unprotected second-round draft picks from the Atlanta Hawks (2026 and 2028) and Golden State (2029). The move exceeded the team’s allowed limit of Three-Way players, prompting the waiver of Two-Way forward Cui Yongxi.
Marks views this trade as an opportunity to acquire young talent and draft picks. Schroder, having one of the best seasons in his 12-year career, was traded for essentially two second-round picks and Beekman. The Nets will evaluate Beekman during the season, furthering their rebuilding efforts through the Draft.
