A network security incident has caused widespread disruptions to government services in Nevada, leaving many websites and phone lines offline. The incident, which occurred on Sunday, was announced by Governor Joe Lombardo’s office on Monday.
The state is working to restore services safely, but some systems are still unavailable, including the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles website. In-person services, such as those offered at DMV locations, will not be available until further notice.
Emergency services remain accessible, and law enforcement agencies have reported minimal disruption to their ability to enforce traffic laws. However, officials have confirmed that delays may occur when processing certain records.
The FBI is assisting in the investigation into the incident. Some state parks are closed due to the outage, while others remain open but entrance fees must be paid in cash. Residents are also being warned about potentially unsolicited calls or emails asking for personal information.
No personally identifiable information was compromised during the incident, and home internet and mobile phone services were not affected. As official websites return online, residents are advised to verify information before submitting it.
