New Glenn Completes Maiden Flight, Despite Booster Landing Failure

Blue Origin’s reusable rocket New Glenn successfully completed its maiden flight on January 16th from Cape Canaveral in Florida. The launch achieved orbit and deployed a test payload, but the booster failed to land on a platform called Jacklyn in the Atlantic Ocean. According to an official statement, the company lost the booster during descent due to a propulsion issue. Despite this setback, Blue Origin remains confident about its goals for the rocket’s development. The CEO has stated that landing and recovering the booster is an ambitious goal and acknowledged a propulsion problem. A second launch is planned for late spring, with production of a new booster already underway.
