Apple is rumored to release a new iPad in spring 2025, according to an insider report. This will be the first update for the standard iPad since 2017’s fifth-generation model.
Previous updates have focused on smaller iPads like the mini, Air, and Pro, with last year’s introductions marking a shift away from these models. However, the new device is expected to bring Apple Intelligence support, which may mean a newer A-series chip and at least 8GB of RAM.
Interestingly, this custom 5G modem is set to debut on the iPhone SE 4 before being used in future iPhones like the iPhone 17 series next fall. The latest iOS 18.2 update has already brought many Apple Intelligence features to supported devices.
The iPad’s history began with its introduction in 2010 and only had one size for two years, changing in 2012 with the mini’s release. After that, models like Air and Pro were introduced, followed by the standard iPad’s return in 2017. The current model, starting at $349, will likely be joined by a new device next spring.
Possible launch dates include as early as March for both the new iPad and iPhone SE 4, with iOS 18.3 potentially arriving soon after.
